Buick owner seeks compensation for crash in E. China

After a Buick Lacrosses 2.4L SIDI stalled during a test drive on a highway in Fuzhou, the car owner is still seeking help from media after a three-month long complaint.

The Buick 4S dealership in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, has refused to compensate. While Shanghai General Motors Co has still not responded to the accident complaint, despite the incident occurring on Dec 31, 2012, the car consumption and quality report website reported Tuesday.

Lin bought the car from a Fuzhou local dealership. On Dec 31, 2012, Su, Lin's brother-in-law, picked up the car and took it for a test drive. A salesperson and Lin's wife were in the car at the time.

The car suddenly slowed down to 20 km/h from 80 km/h on the highway, and the steering wheel locked. An oil tank truck struck the car from behind, severely damaging the rear of the vehicle. None of the three passengers aboard were seriously injured.

On Jan 15, Shanghai GM staff members checked the car information, and the report said the driver, Su, was stepping on the accelerator when the accident happened, according to Lin, the car owner.

However, on Feb 26, another report from Shanghai GM said that the driver, Su, hit the brake 2.5 seconds before the rear-end crash. It said the crash was the driver's fault, and the dealership is not responsible for compensations.
