Lovers injured in high-speed crash

A man is fighting for life and a woman injured after their motorcycle hit a tree at high speed in Zengcheng, a suburban city of Guangzhou, on Sunday.

The 22-year-old lovers were traveling home when the accident happened about 10 pm.

"He was driving fast because the road did not have many cars on it. I felt very excited and kept shouting and screaming." The woman surnamed Qiu said, "We hit a roadside tree when we were nearly home."

Qiu received a bone fracture. The young man suffered head injuries and is in a critical condition in the hospital.
