A deep hole with a diameter of 10 meters appeared on a road in Chaoyang district, Beijing, around 4 pm on Sunday, Beijing News reported.
The road subsidence was triggered by broken water pipes, according to a city construction worker. No damage to vehicles or people was reported.
The accident led to traffic diversions and water supply failure in the neighborhood, affecting around 500 residents. Urgent repairs had to be made and are likely to be finished today, and three water tenders were assigned to supply water to residents.
