Xi'an Special: Massive Samsung plant fuels optimism at Xi'an high-tech zone

Record investment by electronics giant Samsung has put Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Shaanxi province on the fast track to development.
The South Korean company is investing $7 billion in a high-end electronic memory chip project, Samsung's largest overseas, at the high-tech zone in Xi'an, capital of the northwestern province.
After the Shaanxi provincial government and Samsung signed an agreement on April 10, 2012, construction on the project started on Sept 12 that year.
