With the National Day holidays just around the corner, illegal escort services are once again thriving on the Internet, according to a reporter from Beijing Evening News.

The reporter was in an online chatroom when someone operating under the title, "finding a paid escort" caught his attention. After engaging in some small talk, the "net friend" came directly to the point: "Do you want to have sex with me?" When the reporter dodged the question, the "net friend" went suddenly silent.

But another "net friend" then asked the reporter if he was looking for someone to spend the holidays with and even left a telephone number. "The young lady can provide round-the-clock service, if you wish," the "friend" added.

The reporter discovered that most of the "tourist escorts" offering their services were female college students whose fees were either stated or could be negotiated.
