A "green ball" dropped off a public bus, exploded and injured four people waiting at a Guangzhou bus stop on Sunday, reports Guangzhou Daily.

Bus No 280 arrived at the Mawucun bus stop in the Baiyun District at about 2 pm.

The object, a small green plastic ball, fell or was tossed out of the vehicle after several passengers boarded, and exploded as it hit the ground, said Zeng, one of the four injured.

After briefly checking the damage, the driver, Zang, drove away, claiming he had nothing to do with it. He was later intercepted by police on the road.

The victims are believed to have suffered only minor injuries.

The bus company promised to make compensation if it is found to be responsible in any way.
