China's rock-and-roll legend Cui Jian has rewarded his loyal fans with a spring music gift, his new album "Show You Colour".

The new work has been long-awaited since his last album was released six years ago. For this new album, Cui has enriched his rock and roll with elements of hip hop and electronic music.

His fans often say they were captivated by the depth of Cui's music and its relevance to current affairs.

Cui says the new album will cover topics such as the impact of reform, cultural differences between China and Western countries and the relationship between urban and rural areas.

The song "Cities Encircled by Rural Areas" in the album depicts urban people's disrespect toward migrant workers from the perspective of a farmer.

He says he is using this new album to experiment with mixing different themes. Nearly every song on the album has its own message and goes in its own direction.
