Int'l badminton federation tries new scoring system

The International Badminton Federation is experimenting with a new scoring system.

The move aims to enhance the sport's image and increase its global appeal.

The Working Group of the IBF has released several different permutations for the scoring system. They hope that one of them may be the answer to their long standing quest to appeal to spectators, viewers, sponsors and television networks.

The Deputy President of the IBF, Punch Gunalan has asked to members to experiment with the following proposed scoring systems:

1) Rally point scoring to 25 points, best of 3 games. At 24, two clear points are needed. If the game goes to 30-all, then first to 31st. Winner of the previous point serves.

2) Rally point scoring to 25 points, best of 3 games. At 24, two clear points are needed. If the games goes to 30-all, then first to 31st. Serving alternate every 5 points.

3) Rally point scoring to 25 points, best of 3 games. Setting to 13 at 10-all.
