校園常用習語 你知道幾個

老師說今天講的這些內容你們都要learn it by heart，然后班里的teacher's pets紛紛附和表示一定會照辦。英語里很多習語都是學校里常用的，今天我們就來介紹其中一些。

1. A for effort!

Recognizing that someone tried hard to accomplish something although they might not have been successful.
某人盡管努力了但是還是沒有成功。

Example: “The cake didn't turn out like she had planned, but I give her an A for effort!”
例子：“蛋糕做出來并不像計劃中那么完美，但是我已經盡力了！”

2. Copycat

Someone who copies the work (or mimics the actions) of others.
抄襲別人作品（或模仿別人動作）的人。

Example: “Janie is a copycat- she was looking at my answers while we were taking the test!”
例子：“珍妮是個抄襲者——我們在考試時她試圖偷看我的答案。

3. Learn (something) by heart

To memorize something completely.
徹底記住某事，熟記于心。

Example: “I have played that song so many times that I have learned it by heart and don't even have to look at the music.”
例子：“這首歌我已經彈過好多次了，所以我不需看曲譜都能記住怎么彈。

4. Pass with flying colors

To pass (a test) easily and with a high score.
輕輕松松通過考試還拿了高分。

Example: “Todd must have studied a long time because he passed the test with flying colors.”
例子：“托德肯定學了很長時間，因為他輕輕松松就考過了，還拿了高分。

5. Play hooky

To skip school.
逃學，翹課。

Example: “My friends are playing hooky today so they can be first in line for concert tickets this afternoon.”
例子：“為了能買到音樂會前排的票，我的朋友下午翹課了。

6. Drop out of school

To stop attending school.
輟學。

Example: “Mary had to drop out of school when his mother became ill so that he could help take care of her.”
例子：“為了照顧生病的母親，瑪麗不得不輟學。

7. Put your thinking cap on

To think in a serious manner.
認真思考。

Example: “We're all going to have to put our thinking caps on to tackle this big problem.”
例子：“為了解決這個大麻煩，我們都得認真思考。”

8. Show of hands

Raising hands to vote about something.
舉手投票。

Example: “By a show of hands, how many of you would prefer to have the test on Friday?”
例子：“舉手投票決定，你們當中有多少人更傾向于周五考試？”

9. Teacher's pet

The teacher's favorite student.
老師的寵兒。

Example: “Jonathan is the teacher's pet- she always calls on him first.”
例子：“喬納森是老師最喜歡的學生——她總是先叫他。

10. Bookworm

Someone who reads a lot.
書蟲，讀了很多書的人。

Example: “She is such a bookworm! She seems to have a new book every day!”
例子：“她真是個典型的書蟲！幾乎每天她都有一本新書！”
