Mainland actress-turned-director Xu Jinglei has caused a bit of a commotion after releasing half-naked stills of herself to promote her latest flick Go Lala Go!
In an interview with Sina.com, Xu said she hoped the photos and sex scenes would not divert attention from the film. "It feels like all our good work is being twisted and deliberately misunderstood," she said.
The nation's netizens are making up their own mind and the consensus seems to be that the pictures aren't that revealing and were photoshopped anyway. The film also stars Taiwan singer Stanley Huang, along with Karen Mok, Li Ai and Pace Wu. The movie has been adapted from the novel Du Lala's Promotion.
A strong theme this week in the world of entertainment gossip is pregnancy. Actress Zhao Wei gave an exclusive interview to Southern Metropolis Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, but you have to wonder why she bothered because she would not answer any questions about her rumored baby bump, or indeed, whether she was married. The only snippet of news she did reveal was that she would be working again in June or July.
"No matter what it is, I choose to keep it secret if it is personal. We (entertainers) spend a lot of time being exposed to the masses, so there is less time for myself," she said in the interview.
Meanwhile, mainland actress Che Xiao is said to have become pregnant, just three months after she married 29-year-old billionaire Li Zhaohui, head of a steel company, in Shanxi. Che's agent said she hadn't been told of the news, but admitted that Che was not planning to work this year, according to Sohu.com.
On the other hand, Tony Leung and Carina Lau, who married two years ago, are said to be desperate for a child. The 44-year-old Lau is said by Yahoo News to be seeing a famed gynecologist and has already tried embryo implants and hormone injections, all to no avail.
Meanwhile, TV personality May Fung claimed on her show Be My Guest that Leung had a penchant for mutilating himself. She said this happened once when he could not get hold of Lau over the phone.
"One evening, when Carina was at a Hong Kong Jockey Club event, where mobile phones must be switched off, Tony went crazy as he couldn't find her. He started hitting his hands on the wall to the extent he had to be treated for his injuries."
