Zhengzhou to host global garden expo

An international garden expo will be staged in the capital of Henan province, Zhengzhou, on Sept 29.

The show will be the 11th session of the annual event, which is held by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and it has been staged in various cities across the country over the years.

The expo will cover an area of 119 hectares and feature landscape architecture from 74 Chinese cities and 18 ones from abroad, says Xue Yongqing, the director general of the Zhengzhou Gardens Bureau.

Mobile internet will allow visitors to plan routes and get access to information about various parks and plants, says Xue.

Cultural activities, including float parades, local opera performances and lantern shows will also be held.

The site of the expo will serve as a public urban eco-park after the event, says Xue.
