Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co, a large-scale comprehensive enterprise focusing on the production and sales of chemical fibers, has seen breakthroughs in carbon fiber production, according to local media reports.

More than a decade ago, Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co, based in Jilin city, Northeast China's Jilin province, achieved the unthinkable by producing carbon fiber precursors, and created a precedent for the large-scale production of carbon fiber in China, and officially embarked on the road to the industrialization of carbon fiber precursors.

This year, Jilin province accelerated the high-quality and innovative development of the carbon fiber industry. The industry recorded a huge production capacity, and the output of carbon fiber (carbon filament) hit a record high.

At present, construction work on a project that has an expected annual output of 15,000 metric tons of carbon fiber (carbon filament) as well as a project with an annual production of 150,000 tons of carbon fiber precursor has started.

In the near future, Jilin city will develop a carbon fiber industrial cluster relying on its advantageous endowments, and plans to achieve a carbon fiber industry output value of 70 billion yuan ($10.81 billion) by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co will implement Jilin city's development strategy plan, focus on the carbon fiber sector, develop new projects across the entire industry chain, strengthen the integrated development of the industry chain, and cooperate with downstream sectors to develop and expand applications, and jointly promote the development of the carbon fiber industry in Jilin.
