Members of Anhui Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference recently submitted a proposal entitled "Recommendations on increasing protection for cultural tourism resources and development in west Anhui".

The proposal, highlighted the fact that west Anhui has abundant tourism resources, including natural landscapes, historical and cultural scenic spots. Speeding up the development of cultural tourism is the key to accelerating the alleviation of poverty in the region. In recent years, cultural tourism in west Anhui has achieved rapid progress; however, there is still work to be done in respect of the integration of cultural tourism resources and infrastructure construction.

To strengthen the integration of these resources, the Committee proposed that local governments should strengthen organizational leadership, improve regional cooperation, distinguish administrative responsibilities between the city of Lu'an and the city of Anqing, and promote the project’s implementation.

In addition, with regard to improving infrastructure and optimizing the developmental environment, CPPCC members advised integrating tourist road construction into the province's transportation network, and making efforts to upgrade the service quality of scenic spots.

Other suggestions included highlighting cultural tourism characteristics, focusing on planning, extending the cultural industry chain and promoting joint development.
