Problems to which attention should be paid concerning the voluntary giving up or applying for suspension of adopting children from China

Where the adopters give up or apply for suspension of adoption from China because the adopters become pregnant or give birth to a baby or because they adopt children from other countries (include China), the China Center of Children’s Welfare and Adoption shall fully respect the personal wishes of the adopters and allow them to go through the formalities of returning the materials and suspending the adoption through adoption organization.

Where the adopters still require adoption from China after they become pregnant or give birth to babies while they are waiting for adoption, time and energy that need to be spent in tending and looking after the newly added children and striving to create a family environment for the children that best suits their healthy growth should be taken into full account. The following elements should be considered: (1) there should be a certain time interval between the time of the adoption families newly adding children, that is, the time to give birth to babies or adopt children from other country (including their own countries), and the time to adopt children from China; (2) the adopters continue to meet the requirements of the China Center of Children’s Welfare and Adoption on the qualification of the adopters; (3) the adopters should inform the China Center of Children’s Welfare and Adoption of becoming pregnant or adopting children from other countries (including their own countries) through the adoption organization in a timely manner, and submit the supplementary report on their family situations notarized or authenticated by the professional social workers to the China Center of Children’s Welfare and Adoption after they give birth to babies or adopt children.
