Students of two middle schools in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, will be offered eight custom school bus routes next semester, Straits News reported.

Kangchi New Ba-shi, a local bus company said it has bought nine clean energy-powered buses for the project, benefiting students of Fuzhou Normal University Affiliated Middle School and the adjacent Fuzhou Shidai Middle School.

The price of a sinlge ride is set at 6 yuan ($1).

Three of the big-nosed yellow buses are 10-meters long with 36 seats and the other six are 8.5 meters in length with a capacity of 28. All are equipped with automatic overcapacity and overspeed alarms, GPS positioning and emergency exits.

The emergency exit opens when the driver presses a button that sends an electronic instruction to automatically break two panes of glass, explained a manager of the company.

Subscribers to the custom services will get a special bus card. Boarding information will be texted by the system to parents’ mobile phones. The buses will be under audio and video supervision, he added.

Eight buses will in regular operation. The other one will remain in reserve to fill in during emergencies.

The company has mapped out eight routes and claims the subscription rate of all have exceeded 50 percent.

Routes are as follows:

1. (Starts 6:40 am) Shangyan Intersection stop – Jinxiang Intersection stop – Jinshan Bus Station –Jianxin stop – Liaoyuan stop – Terminal of the two schools.

2. (Starts 6:30 am) Jinshan Siqi stop – Zhongtian Golden Beach – Jinju stop - Jinshan Bus Station Parking Lot - Pushangjianxin Crossing (South) – Wanda Plaza – Terminal of the two schools.

3. (Starts 6:45 am) Hengjian Bypass – Yonghui stop at Jiangnanshuidu Community – Jiangnan Shuidu Middle School – Liaoyuan Road – South Riverside Road - Terminal of the two schools.

4. (Starts 6:30 am) Liangcuo stop – Xihe stop – North Gate of Fuzhou University – East Gate of Fuzhou University – Xichan Temple – Shangpu Intersection - Terminal of the two schools.

5. (Starts 6:45 am) Tatou stop – Fuxin Intersection – Ziyang Overpass stop – Wangzhuang stop – Yanta Stop - Terminal of the two schools.

6. (Starts 6:35 am) Huada Road stop – Price Bureau – Fujian Provincial Theatre – Fujian Provincial Movie Company – Douchi stop – Pudong stop - Terminal of the two schools.

7. (Starts 6:35 am) Pingshan Park stop – Shanghaiguan stop – Zongyuan stop – Limin stop – Wanxiang Town – Fuzhou No.4 Middle School - Terminal of the two schools.

8. (Starts 6:30 am) Damin Town – Qianyu East Road stop – Gushanyuan stop – Yuanxi Village stop – Rongqiaodongqu stop – Changle stop.
