The delegation of American Society of Travel Agency (ASTA) came to Guiyang to attend the tourism promotional conference on Nov 8.

It was the first time for ASTA, America's biggest travel industry society, to visit Guiyang, capital city of southwest China's Guizhou province.

Guiyang government, the Tourism Development Committee of Guizhou and ASTA will jointly hold the ASTA China Summit 2017, running from Nov 5-11. The one-week event aims to build a platform for both sides to exchange ideas on travel promotion and tourism industrialization.

"From January to September this year, tourists from North America took up the largest share among Guizhou's inbound tourists," Zhu Xi, the president of travel agency subordinates to Guiyang's Travel Industry Association said at the conference. "We will take this event as an opportunity to promote inbound tourism."

Data shows that from January to September, Guiyang received 266,400 inbound tourists, with a year-on-year growth of 17.55 percent. With the help of the event, Guiyang will actively encourage travel agencies and overseas media to visit Guiyang and make it a world famous tourism city.
