A contingent made up of 30 Guizhou pharmaceutical firms made quite an impression at the 79th National Pharmacy Fair held in Shanghai on April 11.

In order to continuously promote Guizhou's nationwide influence in the medical industry, the southwestern province has been participating in the National Pharmacy Fair since 2015. Since then, it has signed business agreements with more than 2,000 pharmaceutical corporations and agencies, amounting to five billion yuan ($795 million) in sales.

At this year's fair, the 30 pharmaceutical firms from Guizhou showcased their abilities and achievements in areas like chemical medication, Chinese patent medicine, biological pharmacy, healthcare-related products and services, etc.

He Gang, director of the Commission of Economy and Information Technology in Guizhou, said that Guizhou would continue taking full advantage of the National Pharmacy Fair to deepen cooperation and business connections with relevant parties in the Chinese medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Guizhou's Chinese medicine industry is one of its five trademarks, contributing to the province's national image. With abundant pharmaceutical resources and a strong industrial foundation, Guizhou aims to become an important national producer of high-quality Chinese medicine.

According to statistics, the value of Guizhou's pharmaceutical industry has steadily increased at a rate of 10 percent per year from 2013 to 2017. By the end of 2017, the value of its minority pharmaceutical industry had reached 41.2 billion yuan.

With its long history, the National Pharmacy Fair is the biggest of its kind in China in terms of scale and influence. Each year it attracts over 2,000 pharmaceutical corporations and countless agencies from more than 20 provinces and cities across China.
