To facilitate E-Commerce Golden Week, which started on Nov 11, China Railway Chengdu Group Co launched a railway cold chain express service, the first of its kind in Southwest China.

Singles Day on Nov 11 has been a day for mass online shopping since 2009 and is getting bigger every year. The 2018 Tmall Double Eleven Global Shopping Festival reached a trade value of 213.5 billion yuan ($30.65 billion) in one day, setting a new record.

The cold chain express is an innovative railway express service designed to meet the demands of consumers. The luggage cars are equipped with refrigerators and insulation boxes and are attached to passenger trains.

From Nov 11 to 20, the railway departments will make full use of the express service for the 11th year in a row, delivering to 58 cities along 431 routes.

In addition, Chengdu Group has normalized freight transportation on train DJ5421 from Guiyang North Station to Kunming South Station, train DJ5352 from Guiyang North Station to Changsha South Station and train DJ8862 from Chengdu East Station to Xi'an North Station.

In order to meet the specific requirements of transporting Guizhou agricultural products, Chengdu Group also reserved empty carriages on seven high-speed passenger trains, including train G1328 from Guiyang North Station to Shanghai Hongqiao Station, train G1332 from Guiyang North Station to Hangzhou East Station and train G402 from Guiyang North Station to Beijing West Station.

During E-commerce Golden Week, the railway departments will use 700 high-speed passenger trains per day to transport freight, 10 times that of the same period last year.

With other newly emerging transportation methods, the daily income of logistics transportation during the E-Commerce Golden Week will reach another peak this year.
