Confucius Academy, a non-profit institute that provides classic Chinese literature and culture training to people at home and abroad, has established a branch in Guiyang, Guizhou province, during the ongoing 24th Chinese National Book Trade Fair.
"The development of the Internet has its ups and downs, advantages and disadvantages," said Wu Jinglian, one of China's preeminent economists, at the 24th National Book Trade Fair.
The 24th Chinese National Book Trade Fair has arranged a series of literature and cultural events between August 1 and 4 in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province.
One Guizhou peasant writer, Zhou Kangyao, won recognition as a "Top Ten Reading Figure" at the 24th Chinese National Book Trade Fair, as announced on Aug 1.
Judging by the huge participation of publishing houses and companies and the increasing interest of celebrities and readers in the national book fair, printed books remain popular despite the onslaught of electronic devices.
Publishing houses and companies involved in the book trade are confident that the national book fair in Guizhou province will be a story with a happy ending.
