Yahe Industrial Area

Yahe Industrial Area is at the upper reaches of the Baihe River, bordering along the beautiful Yahekou Reservoir. The terrain is higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast. Yahe Area boasts fertile soil, abundant rainfall and well-connected river networks.

On Dec 4, 2009, the standing committee of the Municipal Party Committee decided to establish the Nanyang Yahe Industrial Area. On Aug 22, 2010, the Party Working Committee and the Administrative Committee of Yahe Industrial Area were officially established.

The area covers 113.3 square kilometers with a population of 75,000. It is 30km away from the center of Nanyang. The provincial roads S333, S231 and Jiaozuo-Zhicheng Railway run through the area. The Erenhot-Guangzhou Highway, Lankao-Nanyang Highway, Zhengzhou-Chongqing Highway and Nanyang Airport are all within a distance of 35 km.

Yahe Industrial Area is especially advantageous in terms of resources:

1. Power resources: Yahekou Power Project Term 1 and 2 have already been in use with an installed capacity of 1,900,000 kW. The construction of Term 3 will start soon, with an installed capacity of 2*1,000,000 kW. After completion, the area will be a new energy valley in central China. Rich power resources lay a solid foundation for the development of Yahe Industrial Area.

2. Water resources: Yahe Industrial Area is located at the upper reaches of the Baihe River and to the south of the beautiful Yahekou Reservoir. Yahekou Reservoir is a large multi-functional water–control project. Its water covers an area of 120 square kilometers, with a volume of 1.316 billion cubic meters.

3. Tourism resources: Yahekou Reservoir is a national reservoir scenic area, known for its beautiful landscape. It has a huge potential for tourism development. Lotus Hot Spring City is one of the biggest hot spring resorts in Asia, with an area of 1200 mu (800,000 square meters).

4. Agricultural resources: The area possesses rich land and agricultural resources. It is the largest production base and trade center for peanuts in southwestern Henan. The area of peanuts has reached 1,933 hectares with an annual yield of about 30,000 tons and an annual trading volume of over 1 million tons. The products are sold in more than 20 provinces and cities within China, and even exports to Southeast Asia. Yahe is also home to over 20 kinds of wild fresh water fish, with 40,000 kilograms annually. Huangludian town is a famous pollution-free vegetable base in Nanyang, where there is a demonstration base of over a hundred hectares of Chinese green onion.
