The International Financial Service Outsourcing Area passed the acceptance inspection for a provincial demonstration area in building’s energy-saving and green building. It is the first qualifier for the acceptance in Huaqiao International Business Service Park, according to the results released at the inspection and assessment conference on Nov 8.

Huaqiao International Business Park was recognized as provincial demonstration area for Building Energy-Saving and Green Building in 2010.

The service industry’s added value in the park continues to increase with social economic development. It is estimated that carbon emissions from buildings will account for 75 percent of the total by 2025.

Green buildings are a top priority in Huaqiao’s development of a low-carbon city. From energy-saving building to green building then a green city, the popularity and scale of Huaqiao’s green construction is expanding.

The area of green building projects that have been built or are being built in Huaqiao totaled 3.77 million square meters by the end of August 2013. Twenty-one of the projects, covering an area of 2.18 million sq m, were authorized with green building labels.

Moreover, projects with green building plans and green building services will cover nearly 2.5 million sq m. The buildings with renewable energy in Huaqiao accounted for 14 percent of the total in Jiangsu province.

Huaqiao is seeking a development pattern themed on an environmental and intelligent city, which will focus on green building and intelligent construction as well as a building energy-consumption supervision and operation system, according to an introduction presented by Huaqiao.
