The fifth day of the Lunar New Year is a time when people "receive" the god of wealth. Zhouzhuang held a grand ceremony for the traditional custom. More than 500 tourists from home and abroad took part in the ceremony.

According to the custom, families in Zhouzhuang set up sacrificial altars, presenting food and tea to welcome the god of wealth. The ceremony of "receiving" the god of wealth is fabulous. Retainers presented sacrificial nuts. A Zhouzhuang master, accompanied by a team of servant girls, walked along the road covered with golden ingots, ancient money and bat decorations. Then the God of literacy, martial, justice, wealth and a historic well-wishing boy appeared in succession.. The Zhouzhuang master began to pay homage by sprinkling items and welcoming the god of wealth.

Receiving the god of wealth is a special folk custom in the Wu area of China. It is a Chinese folk tradition indicating people's desire for a good life.
