The Nantong municipal government in the city of Nantong, Jiangsu province, held a meeting to promote the construction of the Nantong Free Trade Zone on Sept 17. Zhang Guohua, mayor of Nantong, attended the meeting, according to local media.
Zhang said that the quality of the zone will depend mainly on its functions. For this reason, the city should accelerate construction and efforts to upgrade layout and functionality. Meanwhile, the trade zone needs to cultivate industrial agglomeration and create competitive advantages to drive the development of the city.
The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone and related departments have worked hard on infrastructure, planning and investment attraction since the establishment of the free trade zone.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
