Xiaoran (R3), a girl from Dandong, Liaoning province returned to her hometown to celebrate the Lantern Festival. She invited five other girls from Shanghai to spend the festival with her there. On the evening of Feb 6, 2012, they hung 40 festive Beijing Opera facial masks as lanterns that they had made with the Maosheng Hutong community. The Beijing Opera facial mask lanterns were made for the 2012 International Artworks Competition.
