In the first quarter of 2012, Dandong's local taxes exceeded 1.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.8 percent. With social insurance charges amounting to 810 million yuan, the total amount of local taxes in the first quarter reached its record high of 2.6 billion yuan.

Land use contributed the greatest to the first quarter of local taxes. As much as nearly 350 million yuan was charged as land use taxes, up 131.5 percent over the same period of last year. In addition, corporate income tax, deed tax and resources tax also grew at a rate of double digits, playing an important role in increasing local taxes.
