The launch ceremony of Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology (SHPT) Park was held in Shanghai on May 28, according to local media outlets.
Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading district, Chen Hong, CEO of SAIC Motor, and other leaders attended the ceremony.
The new SHPT Park in Shanghai boasts an automated production line for membrane electrodes, realizing full coverage from independent research and development of membrane electrodes to its manufacturing process. The annual production capacity will reach five million pieces, which is expected to decrease the cost of fuel cells.
"The new park will help SHPT enter the era of digital production," said the person in charge of the company. The smart stereoscopic warehouse, with a total of 1,000 storage locations, will realize smart logistics management, improve production efficiency, and also ensure high-quality manufacturing.

SHPT has been widely regarded in the industry by virtue of its cutting-edge technology in 2020. Its main product, the PROME P390 fuel cell system, has accumulated nearly 20 matching models.
In addition, the new SHPT Park has four functions, namely research and development, testing and verification, manufacturing, as well as hydrogen supply. As the only hydrogen energy high-tech park in Shanghai, it has introduced more than 20 hydrogen energy and smart automotive industrial projects, such as ones by GWM and SAIC Motor.
With a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion), a relatively complete hydrogen energy industry framework system has been initially formed.
Jiading district officials noted that Jiading will continue to be committed to guiding and serving the upgrading of the automotive smart manufacturing industry, with the goal of propelling its new energy vehicle industry.
