Shanghai's Sheshan National Tourist Resort offers a lot at Christmas - wild parties, festive markets and plenty of feasts.

Christmas is, at its core a religious holiday, and Sheshan also has a historical church where you can celebrate Christmas in a more traditional way - even if you are not religious.

The cathedral stands at the top of Sheshan Mountain in Shanghai's southwest Songjiang district. It was first built in the 1870s by French missionaries and has since had several facelifts. The existing cathedral was built between 1925 and 1935.

The cathedral, in European baroque style with marble halls and stained glass windows, can hold 4,000 people. The church will ring Christmas Bells on Christmas Day.
