The Datong Forum, an important business platform project and a part of the culture development strategy “Chinese Ancient Capital, Datong in the world”, began on April 29.

Preserving the old town is at the core of Geng's plan. Datong is divided into two parts by the Yuhe River, and the city will preserve the western part as the old town for its ancient cultural sites while the region to the river's east is set for modernization.
 
Shanxi’s tourism once again stepped on the world stage with its three world cultural heritages showing at the 2012 International Tourism Expo in Paris, March 15-18.
 
Datong has introduced local folk arts to its cultural and commercial street to boost Yungang Grottoes tourism.
 
A meeting for the First International Jin Merchant Conference was held in Datong’s Yanbei Hotel on March 23.
