The tower is the center of the temple. Other buildings include a Bell Tower, a Scripture Hall, a Giant Buddha Pavilion and two Side Halls. They are arranged in line from south to north.
Datong Mosque is one of the most well-known Muslim temples in Shanxi province. According to the temple’s stele, this ancient mosque was first built in the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The Imperial Garden is a large scenic zone surrounding the Yungang Grottoes, which was highly praised by Li Daoyuan, a famous writer and geographer in Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386-534).
Xuankong means hanging in the air for which the temple is famous for. It is located in the middle of the mountain and has existed for more than 1,500 years.
