Cabin crew promote traditional culture in qipao

A group of crew members wearing qipao on flight CZ6345 caught passengers’ attention on March 7. The flight was traveling from Shenyang to Sanya, Hainan province.

Qipao is a traditional Chinese outfit for a woman and evolved from the clothing of Manchu women. Shenyang is known as the birthplace of qipao.

“It is the first time that I have seen crew members wear qipao. The embroidery is beautiful and demonstrates ethnic characteristics,” said a passenger surnamed Chen.

Li Shan, purser of the flight, said that wearing qipao not only improved their professional image and made them more confident, but also showed the traditional culture of Shenyang to the world.

To help educate and inform passengers, information about the history of qipao was made available on the flight.
