Shenyang Bird Island

Shenyang Bird Island is so far the only natural ecological bird viewing center in Shenyang. Also called Ganhezi Island, it is situated in the development area of Qipan Mountain and covers 49.26 hectares. It locates to the east of Dongling Park and south of Expo Park.

Species on Shenyang Bird Island include four major kinds: cursorial birds, waterfowl, waders and songbirds. Red-crowned cranes, black swans, white swans, peacocks, vultures, egrets, yellow-throated bunting, blue-throated birds, Mandarin duck, cormorants, grey cranes, macaws, silver pheasants, black-headed gulls, bar-headed gooses and ostriches can be seen here.

Every day, groups of peacocks, black swans, white swans, and seagulls fly above the island at regular times, forming a distinct aerial landscape.
