Intl agricultural expo to open in Shenyang in September

The 18th China Shenyang International Agricultural Exposition (CSIAE) will be held at Shenyang International Exhibition Center in Sujiatun district, in Northeast China’s Liaoning province, from Sept 21 to 24, according to a press conference held by the city’s people’s government information office on Aug 1.

According to Wang Zhifeng, deputy director of the city’s agriculture department, this year's exposition will take the opportunity of the first “Chinese farmers' harvest festival” to focus on revitalizing the agricultural industry in Shenyang and Liaoning province.

On June 21 this year, the State Council announced that the country will celebrate the “Chinese farmers' harvest festival” on the autumnal equinox, which is one of the 24 solar terms of the Chinese lunar calendar and usually falls between Sept 22 and 24, during the country's agricultural harvest season.

Initiated in 2000, the annual event has become a nationally famous agricultural exposition. This year’s expo will have six exhibition halls, covering 80,000 square meters with 3,000 stands, a record number.

The comprehensive hall will display agricultural products and achievements from Shenyang and nearby cities, showcasing rural e-commerce and the development of agricultural finance.

The leisure agriculture hall will showcase the achievements of key leisure agriculture projects in Shenyang, including farming culture, sightseeing agriculture, garden engineering and creative agriculture.

The overseas food hall will mainly display food, beverages and modern agricultural technologies from foreign countries, such as Russia, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Italy and France.

The smart agriculture hall will highlight high-tech products such as drones, air spraying equipment, and air remote sensing equipment.

The health food hall will display products including health care foods, functional beverages and nutritional meals.

The featured agricultural products hall will exhibit regional brand products, intangible cultural heritage products, specialty foods and traditional handmade products.

Focusing on innovation, ecology, integration, and development in the agricultural sector, the event is expected to greatly develop modern agriculture in rural areas in Shenyang and Liaoning province.
