Shenyang conference focuses on ophthalmic medical treatment

The 2nd International Conference on Genomics of EYE (ICGEYE 2nd) was held in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Sept 3.

The conference was hosted by the Shenyang municipal people’s government and co-organized by the Shenyang science and technology department, the Hunnan district people’s government, and the Shenyang He Eye Hospital.

Attendees included renowned experts, academics, and scholars from China and abroad, as well as representatives from scientific research institutes, universities, and companies. They discussed genomics, precision medicine, and other medical issues.

The conference was held with the aim of promoting connectivity between genomics, ophthalmology, stem cell treatment, biomedicine, and big data, as well as the development of precision ophthalmic medical treatment in China.

During the conference, a public welfare program for the prevention and control of myopia was also launched. The program will offer genetic eye screenings for 1,000 primary and middle school students in Shenyang, as well as gene detection services for children and teenagers with high myopia. It will help them prevent and treat the condition.
