Recommended spring cycling routes in Shenyang (3)

Shenyang -- capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province -- has unveiled 10 glorious spring cycling routes, allowing cyclists to enjoy the beauty of the city’s springtime, while keeping fit.

The following is the third part covering three recommended routes:

8. Industrial cycling tour: 1905 Cultural and Creative Park -- Industrial Museum of China -- Hongmei Cultural and Creative Park -- Exhibition Center of Workers Village

Cycling tour time: 90 minutes

The 1905 Cultural and Creative Park is a reconstruction of two metalwork shops operated by Northern Heavy Industry Group, that retain their original architecture. A variety of popular restaurants, bars, themed cafes, creative studios and theatres can be found in the park.

Cycle west for about 20 minutes and you reach the Industrial Museum of China, the largest comprehensive industrial museum in the country. With a collection containing tens of thousands of items, its exhibits detail the history of China’s industrial development.

Then cycle south for about six minutes and you will find Hongmei Cultural and Creative Park. The park was built on the former Hongmei gourmet powder factory, which was established in 1939 and was a leading light industrial enterprise in Shenyang city. Now after reconstruction, the park boasts a market for cultural and creative products, an art gallery, the Shenyang Palace Museum cultural and creative products experience hall, a book house, design studios, food streets and more.

Then continue to cycle south to the Exhibition Center of Workers Village, which was designed to replicate typical workers’ dormitory buildings in the Tiexi district in 1950s Shenyang. The center highlights the living conditions, environment and daily activities of workers during that era.

9. Nighttime cycling tour: City Square -- Youth Park -- TV Station Tower -- Shengjing Grand Theater -- K11

The route follows Qingnian Avenue in Shenyang, which boasts the most colorful night views and is a protective belt for walkers and cyclists, making it suitable for nighttime cycling.

Hang Lung Plaza near the City Square is the tallest building in Shenyang and the TV Station Tower is the best place to look over the city.

The lanterns in the Youth Park at night are bright and the lights reflected in the water are beautiful.

The Shengjing Grand Theater on the north bank of the Hunhe River has a unique and beautiful shape, like a diamond. The newly built New World Shopping Art Center opposite is also a good place to shop and eat.

Tips: In order to avoid danger, please install special lights and warning lights on the bicycle before night cycling. It is best to install warning lights on the wheels, wear riding clothes with reflective strips, wear a helmet and gloves, obey the traffic rules and pay attention to speed control.

10. Street cycling tour: Sanjing Street -- Jiuwei Road -- Bajing Street -- Zhongshan Road

Cycling tour time: 2-3 hours

This route covers some buildings of the European style and from the Republic of China (1912-1949) – as well as some stylish coffee shops, bars, restaurants and bookshops, where cyclists can spend their leisure time.
