Where to enjoy lotus flowers in Shenyang

With more rain and temperatures rising, lotus flowers in many scenic areas and parks in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, have come into blossom. July and August are the ideal time to enjoy lotus flowers. Here are some recommended places to admire these elegant flowers in Shenyang.

Shenyang Expo Garden

A water lily exhibition is now underway at the Binshui wetlands at the Shenyang Expo Garden from mid-June to late August, exhibiting more than 35,000 water lilies from nearly 70 species. The flowers are in blossom in the mornings and close up in the afternoon or evening. They come in yellow, white, pink and other colors.

Shenyang Bird Island

A large number of lotus flowers are now in blossom at the wetlands, near the Lover's Bridge at Bird Island. Visitors can enjoy lotus flowers and watch the birds on the island.

The Longtan Lotus Flower Lake Resort Park is located opposite the main entrance of Dongling Park. Each July and August, lotus flowers bloom at the lake and visitors can enjoy the flowers while taking a boat ride.

Liaohe Qixing Lake Scenic Area

Liaohe Qixing Lake Scenic Area is located between Huangjia township in Shenbei new district and Yiniupu township in Faku county, 47 kilometers from downtown Shenyang. From July to August, more than 66.67 hectares of lotus flowers bloom in the scenic area, where visitors can enjoy the flowers, take a boat ride and set up a tent to relax.

Xinmin Fairy Lake

Shenyang Fairy Lake Scenic Area is part of the Puhe River reservoir. It is hailed as one of the best places to enjoy lotus flowers in China and is one of the 15 most popular tourist attractions in Shenyang. The area covers 6.71 square kilometers and has over 266.67 hectares of wild lotus, attracting a huge number of visitors each year.

Faku Lingshan Lake

Lingshan Lake in Faku county in Shenyang boasts lotus flowers covering an area of 200 hectares. Visitors can enjoy flowers here and experience the culture of the Liao Dynasty (916-1125).

Shenyang Pearl Lake

Pearl Lake is located in Liaozhong district of Shenyang, about 31 km from downtown. With a water area of 1,667 hectares, the lake has seven islands. It attracts hordes of tourists every year, especially in summer, when more than 533 hectares of lotus flowers are in blossom and a lotus flower festival is held.
