Why does US seem so paranoid of China

Comment on "China, US trade barbs over military ties" (China Daily June 7)

I'm neither Chinese nor American so I can look at the Asian situation from afar with an open mind.

What I can't understand is why the United States seems so paranoid of China and its desperate attempt to corner Asia? I can't help it but it's also how people I spoke with, some in military, in Europe, Latin America , South Africa and even down under describe what the US is doing

If ever China would be an imperialist like the US, which is highly unlikely, it's not going to happen in the next 70 years. It has a problem of its own at home they need to fix and that would take time. Unlike during 1800s, to be an aggressor/invader during this modern time is very costly and hard to calculate. Look at the US, just to get Saddam cost hundreds of billions and 85,000 Iraqi lives and about 4,000 American soldiers. Look again, they are still looking for Osama bin Laden and have already spent another several billions and 1000 US soldiers died,

What is so pathetic about the US is, it's already selling weapons to Taiwan, perhaps it has more Navy ships in South China Sea than sharks and dolphins combined, and has military bases in South Korea and Japan (Philippines kicked it out) here's what is funny- it wants China to be transparent of its military build up! Is the US scared of China taking its Hegemony crown? If you have to evaluate all of these, you can conclude that all you need, I agree with one commenter from earlier, is Psych war to weaken US knees and dry up of its money without firing a shot. The thing is, many US government advisers on Asian affairs are Korean, Vietnam and MacArthur's war veterans. What would you expect?

Again if US thinks it has the right to sell weapons to Taiwan, then China has the sovereign right to build its military, like it or not,

Around Asia, US government becomes a laughing stock, unfortunately.
