Identities of airline combatants should be disclosed

Two Chinese passengers who fought on a Swiss International Air Lines flight forced the place to return to its place of departure, says an article in Beijing News Daily. Excerpts:

Even if the two passengers have been released after paying fines, the Chinese public has the right to know if the two Chinese are civil servants or not.

But authorities in China and Switzerland have not disclosed any information about their identities.

According to Chinese law, civil servants are treated differently than other nationals when they commit crimes abroad. They can also be punished according to Chinese law after being punished abroad. So Chinese laws are much stricter on civil servants than on other citizens.

Their behaviors on the plane may have already breached Chinese laws. Chinese authorities have the obligation to investigate the case and disclose their identities if they are civil servants.

So it is extremely important to let the public know their identities, and if Chinese laws are applicable to them.
