Government guidance needed for car models

To turn kids into bikini-clad car models is by no means part of an auto cultural festival, it is not conducive to boosting children's stage confidence, but an irresponsible attitude towards children's development, says an article on The Beijing Times. Excerpts:

In recent years, a spate of incidents involving scantily clad female models at auto shows has challenged people's views on female beauty and morality.

What followed was more shocking. Last Friday, three child-models in bikinis, delivered “sexy” poses, alongside adult models at Chutian Auto Culture Festival in Wuhan, Hubei province, which has again generated much controversy among the public.

Nowadays, car exhibitions have formed a particular questionable practice of selling “female beauty” instead of automobiles. The more the models expose themselves, the more attractive the exhibition is. Even children have fallen victims to this wrongdoing.

The host of the event explains that having young girls wearing bikinis aims to nurture future models, there is no commercial benefit from the show for the parents, the child models or the event organizers.

According to experts, child modeling implants the idea in children of making easy money by exposing themselves, and may lead children to turn a blind eye to academic achievements. In addition, an overly exposed body exerts a negative effect on children's psychological and sexual development.

Although event organizers claim there are no commercial purposes behind having bikini-clad children model, the truth is hard to say.

It's understandable to have commercial packaging at auto shows to attract visitors', but please do not get children involved and please do not cross the moral red line.

Innocent children have been tainted by greedy businessmen and by those parents who are unable to discern that this is a black and white issue. It's time for relevant authorities to implement plans to regulate.
