Should parents pay for college tuition?

Giving them a free ride through college teaches them nothing and in no way motivates them to achieve or take it seriously since they have no personal investment in it themselves that they have worked for. It only enables them to become further dependent on others to provide and do things for them. As a parent of three kids, I feel I will have provided them enough by the time they are 20. In my case, I will be in my 60s by the time my youngest hits 20. They will have to learn to do things for themselves, and work for and make decisions for themselves. It's their life and they will be responsible for their dreams and wants. Let them work for it themselves and they will value and appreciate what they have more than if it was just given to them without any effort on their part.
