American Airlines announced that it would open daily direct flights between Pudong and Dallas/Fort Worth. The flight, by Boeing 777-200, will depart from Shanghai at 4:50pm local time and arrive in Dallas/Fort Worth at 6:10pm local time on the same day.

 

Jing Yiming, president of the Shanghai Airport Authority, said in his speech that the flight between Pudong, Shanghai, and Dallas/Fort Worth is the first flight that connects Shanghai and American South. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, as the main base of American Airlines, is also Pudong’s sister airport. The opening of this flight represents the bond between Pudong and Fort Worth and brings them closer. It also provides more choices for passengers to make connecting flights.

 

 

Suzanne Boda, senior vice-customer service president of the international and cargo department of American Airlines, also spoke positively about the opening of the flight between Shanghai and Dallas. The opening of the direct flight not only provides more choices for Chinese passengers to travel to America, but also provides convenience for passengers who need to head for Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and Latin America via Dallas. She expressed the will and confidence of the Chinese market and hopes to provide more convenience for Chinese passengers.

 

Miss Peng, general manager of China for American Airlines, said that it is the fourth direct flight between China and America after the flights between Shanghai-Chicago, Beijing-Chicago and Shanghai-Los Angeles.

 

Wang Shiqin, CEO of Shanghai Airlines, said that the flight between Shanghai and Dallas is the 107th international flight in Pudong International Airport. Pudong International Airport will continue to be committed to building itself as an Asian air hub, and providing comprehensive high-quality service for passengers.

 

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is not only the main air hub for people to transfer to places like Latin American countries, the US mainland and Canada, but also a portal to the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan area. The business class seats in the refurbished Boeing 777-220 will be about twice as large as before.
