McLaren boss Ron Dennis has spoken out against plans to put Formula One's major manufacturers in the driving seat when it comes to drawing up future technical regulations.

He told a Monaco Grand Prix news conference on Thursday: "I do not feel comfortable with regulations that are designed to favour car manufacturers whose involvement, at any time, can stop."

"It's not their core business and history shows manufacturers choose to stop at very short notice for very different reasons," added Dennis, whose championship-leading team is 40 percent owned by DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes.

"To construct, therefore, Formula One for the manufacturers I think is fundamentally wrong."

The governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) is in talks with the manufacturers to introduce major technical changes from 2011.

Proposals were circulated earlier this month. Dennis suggested on Thursday the enthusiasm of some teams for the proposals might be because they "can't make competitive cars with the current regulations
