According to Zhai, volunteers were split into two groups – one that cared for cats and the other for dogs.
"Every pet needs professional care. We strictly monitored their appetite, mental state, and physical condition. We also send videos of the pet to its owner every day," he said.
"This experience of running a pet care center has shown that we have the ability to help more stray animals in the future," he added.
