Pro-independence Tsai betrays 23m people in Taiwan: Editorial flash

The meeting between Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen and US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday is apparently a political show for both of them. With Tsai wanting to boast meeting with a US official to gain support for her pro-independence push, and McCarthy trying to please the anti-China forces in his political field.

However, by doing so Tsai is betraying the interests of the 23 million Taiwan residents by turning them into a political tool of the US’ containing of China as well as the 332 million Americans by involving them in risking a catastrophic conflict with China.

Her tricks are known to all. On March 28, before she made her trip, over 30 groups gathered in Taipei to protest against her dangerous deeds. On March 30, when she was in New York, organizations such as the Center for Political Innovation held protests outside the hotel where she lodged, too.

Having cheated the world and betrayed her own motherland, Tsai will end up being blamed by all.
