Air Cambodia signs on to plans to buy Chinese jetliners

Air Cambodia has plans to purchase 20 of China's C909 regional jetliners, according to a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed on Monday.

The memorandum noted 10 confirmed orders and 10 letter-of-intent orders for China's domestically developed regional jet model.

Representatives from Cambodia's national airline put pen to paper on the memorandum along with officials from the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, the manufacturer of the C909, in Zhengzhou, Henan province. The two parties also intend to cooperate in areas including aircraft acquisition, operational support and industrial cultivation.

Air Cambodia is the only airline in the Southeast Asian country to have obtained certification from the IATA Operational Safety Audit.
