China's Meituan expands food delivery brand to Kuwait

Chinese food delivery giant Meituan launched its international brand Keeta in Kuwait on Monday, marking its third expansion in the Gulf after Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as it steps up efforts to build a regional network in the Middle East.

It chose the Gulf country for its high per capita GDP, strong penetration of online food delivery and growing consumer demand for premium services, factors the company sees as making the market both dynamic and full of potential.

Leveraging Meituan's operational know-how, Keeta said it aims to expand its restaurant and merchant supply, introduce product innovations and offer reliable, affordable delivery to customers.

It also plans to promote the digitalization of the restaurant sector while supporting merchants and riders as partners in building a more mature ecosystem.

Since entering Saudi Arabia in September 2024, Keeta has recorded rapid growth in users and orders, according to the company.

It launched in Qatar in August and has now added Kuwait less than a month later, underscoring Meituan's strategy of accelerating a "multi-country" international model.

The company said it will continue to deepen its presence in the Middle East and is also exploring further overseas markets.
