Foreign vloggers explore 4,000-year-old Taosi site in Shanxi

Ten foreign vloggers visited the Taosi Archaeological Site in Linfen, Shanxi province, on Thursday, as part of a five-day tour of the region's ancient architecture. The vloggers hail from eight countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, and France.

The Taosi site showcases the capital city layout and ritual system from over 4,000 years ago and preserves the world's earliest known observatory ruins. Amidst a drizzling rain, the vloggers gathered around the observation slits and horizon calendar markers.

"I had no idea until I stood here that this very observatory is considered a major origin point of the 24 Solar Terms", said Ukrainian vlogger Karyna Kovalevska. "It's amazing that ancient people could accurately divide the seasons and solar terms just by observing the sun's movement relative to these stones."

French vlogger Mathieu Mylene, who has a background in physics, expressed admiration for the ancient Chinese astronomy and agricultural society. "The precise application of celestial observations to agricultural production and social governance represents a highly valuable achievement in integrating science with humanity."

Inside the Taosi Site Museum, the technology-enhanced display methods left a strong impression on Indonesian vlogger Veldsen Yaputra.

"Digital technology makes the 4,000-year-old Taosi civilization tangible and relatable," he said. "It's a very special experience."
