Hebei advances intelligent construction and prefabricated housing
Hebei officials held a press conference about the province's housing and urban-rural development on Tuesday to outline the progress made during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), including strides in promoting intelligent construction and expanding the use of prefabricated rural housing.
Yu Wenxue, director of the Hebei Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, noted that intelligent construction has become a key driver for the transformation of the building industry.
The province has cultivated 21 national prefabricated construction bases, 62 pilot projects, and 9 demonstration sites, with Baoding and Xiong'an New Area standing out as national pilot cities for smart construction, Yu said.
Innovations such as prefabricated components and construction robots are steadily shaping the new model of intelligent building.
In rural areas, Hebei has promoted the construction of prefabricated farmhouses on a trial basis. The initiative follows a voluntary participation model supported by the government and has gained popularity among residents for offering safer, more comfortable, and energy-efficient housing options. The province has also issued a joint action plan to encourage the use of prefabricated rural housing.
