2004年，妻子突然自殺給Allen帶來了巨大打擊。為求在音樂中藉慰傷痛，Garry Allen發行第六張專輯《Tough all over》，其中，有四首曲子是Allen為亡妻而作。該專輯可以說是Garry Allen最個人化情感的完全體現，專輯中的首支單曲“Best I ever had”雖為翻唱曲目，卻經Allan沙啞嗓音的過濾，成為“情深意濃”的動人佳作。
