The village of Xiadong, Shanxi province held its traditional horse race, on Feb 15, an annual highlight and local folk custom that dates back to the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
The Datong Lantern Festival for 2014 had a successful conclusion, on Feb 16, as 54 lantern arrangements and 12 ice lanterns gradually went out, after a record number of tourists, 250,000, paid them a visit during the half-month festival.
In Zuoquan county, near the city of Jinzhong, Shanxi province, there was a Li Youcai Clapper with Lyrics performing activity, on Feb 15, with many local grassroots artists taking part, and providing wonderful performances for everyone.
There were six Shehuo troupes altogether, consisting entirely of farmers from the Yanhu district of Yuncheng who came to the city’s Shun Imperial Tomb Square to provide gong and drum and yangko (rural folk dance) performances, on that day to help celebrate Spring Festival.
The exhibition opened on Feb 9, and will last for one week, as a way to show the province's cultural heritage – the Jiangzhou New Year’s wood-block print.
As the 2014 Lantern Festival approached, the Shanxi provincial literary federation and acrobat association, joined a Taiyuan association of many devotees of diabolo.
